Building Update: All the pieces are falling into place, but perhaps a little slower than planned.  The major issue right now is the cost of construction. The construction bids came in 45% over the budget.  The main reasons are labor, materials, and certain aspects of the building design.  The cost of steel and products made from petroluem have been skyrocketing.  The team has been busy all summer getting the issues sorted out in order to keep the project on track.

Septic System: Good news! The design drawings were completed in January and we applied for our permit. Final paperwork was filed and  we have received our permit .

Construction Bids: Bids for the construction or the building were received in July.  The bids came in 45% higher than budget.  The team has been working with the low bidder and our architect to investigate ways to reduce costs.  This effort is currently in progress and we hope to have revised pricing in October.  Some re-design of the building may be required to reduce the costs to meet our budget.

Ground Breaking:  The construction pricing needs to be resolved before this can be scheduled.

Insurance:  We've collected the bulk of the insurance money.

Building Permit:  Our architect has been working with the City of West Chicago to tie up any loose ends involved in getting the permits.  Most of the issues have been resolved and the rest will be settled after we award the construction contract.

Furnishings/Interiors The interior team is reviewing the plans room by room to develop a list of furnishings (i.e. desks, chairs, etc.) that will be needed to equip the rooms. The team has made good progress in coming up with a coordinated interior design for the total building that includes the kitchen, new building and sanctuary.
